The National Institute of Health (NIH) reports that research shows 1 out of every 5 women over the age of 50 have osteoporosis. And, about half of all women over the age of 50 will have a fracture of the hip, wrist, or vertebra (bones of the spine). Osteoporosis is the thinning of bone tissue and loss of bone density over time.

As we get older it becomes more difficult for our bodies to absorb nutrients from our daily diet. While a healthy diet and lifestyle are the first recommendation to prevent osteoporosis – unfortunately a majority of us will have some amount of skeletal degradation over time. OsteoAid is a formulation of key nutrients and minerals that have been identified as key factors in building and remodeling bone, and reducing bone loss.

Calcium and Vitamin D3 are recognized by the NIH as the most important mineral and vitamin our bodies need to strengthen bone. National nutrition surveys have shown that most people are not getting the calcium they need to grow and maintain healthy bones. The body needs Vitamin D to absorb calcium. Without enough Vitamin D, one can’t form enough of the hormone calcitriol (known as the “active vitamin D). This in turn leads to insufficient calcium absorption from the diet. In this situation the body must take calcium from its stores in the skeleton, which weakens existing bone and prevents the formation of strong, new bone.

OsteoAid provides 3 different sources of calcium: Calcium MCHA (microcrystalline hydroxyapatite), Coral Calcium, and Calcium Citrate. The Calcium MCHA has several critical advantages over other bone health supplements by being made of small bio-active peptides that play an important role in bone re-modeling by stimulating osteoblast formation and activity. Calcium MCHA also provides calcium and phosphorus in it’s natural form in the ideal physiological ratio of 2:1. Phosphorus is a needed mineral that works with calcium to preserve and grow bone. Another benefit of the Calcium MCHA is it’s natural source of collagen – the main protein found in healthy cartilage.

Coral Calcium provides another source of calcium along with over 70 trace minerals. Studies have shown that calcium intake with the trace minerals: zinc, copper, boron and manganese showed significantly less bone loss than than the participants who took calcium only. Calcium Citrate is also a source of calcium in OsteoAid. One of the advantages of calcium citrate is that individuals with reduced levels of stomach acid can absorb calcium citrate more easily.

Magnesium is also provided in OsteoAid. This mineral is the 4th most abundant in the body, essential to good health. Women who suffer from osteoporosis tend to have low levels of magnesium. In studies magnesium has shown to help lower the risk of hypertension, heart disease and stroke, strengthen bones and help prevent osteoporosis.

Unique to OsteoAid is the key Vitamins K1 & K2. These vitamins have extensive research supporting the effectiveness in restoring bone-rebuilding and minimizing bone loss. In Japan vitamin k2 is the most frequently prescribed treatments for osteoporosis.

People who suffer from bone loss and reduced bone density often have overall joint pain. OsteoAid includes glucosamine sulfate and MSM to provide nutritional support to the cartilage matrix connected to bones.
