Chiropractic for Elite Athletes

The following guest post is on Chiropractic for elite athletes and is written by US chiropractor, Chad Woolner. Chad is an American chiropractor who will be travelling from the US to London for the 2012 Olympic games to take care of one of the US Olympic athletes.

Today Chad wants to let us know what he feels about Chiropractic treatment helping out Olympic athletes in London 2012.

Chiropractic Care for Elite Athletes

Why have Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and Emmit Smith all turned to chiropractic care? “Because it’s been shown to improve athletic performance nearly 16.7%,” says Boise Chiropractor Chad Woolner of Align Chiropractic & Rehabilitation.

“Athletes these days are in the most competitive atmosphere we have ever seen. Chiropractic care plays a huge role within musculoskeletal performance, protection against injury, and recovery from injuries. That is why a large number of pro athletes are investing in chiropractic care,” says Woolner. Seven-time Tour De France winner Lance Armstrong is a huge supporter of chiropractic care. He has brought his personal chiropractor to every single Tour De France. Following one of his victories, he said he would not have won without his chiropractor.

Three-time Super Bowl champion and all time leading rusher, Emmit Smith, also attributes a great deal of his success to chiropractic care. Emmit Smith attributes a lot of his prolonged healthy career to chiropractic care. In fact, this is just what he was quoted saying about chiropractic care:

“Do I need to get more rest? Do I need to eat better? Do I need a little more training? How can I take care of my body better? Do I need to find a chiropractor? It was time for me to invest in me, I found a specialist that’s really good in balancing out my body to make sure my hips are rotated right, and my body is functioning properly. I remember somebody telling me that what I put myself in during the games is like having a car wreck every Sunday. It’s against the norm. You can find yourself in awkward positions. That stuff takes its toll. But if you take advantage of the health care, balance your body back out, put it back where it’s supposed to be, you function better, and you recover faster.“

I have recently been treating Justin Ruiz, a 2012 Olympic hopeful for Greco-Roman wrestling. I have also seen exactly how effective regular Chiropractic care can be at helping with all the typical wear and tear that takes place in this sport. I will be going with Justin to the 2012 Olympics together with his training team and I’m look forward to this trip.

I like to use a unique combination of traditional Chiropractic care, exercise rehabilitation and soft tissue therapies to help provide a comprehensive treatment approach for the athletes I work with. I find that by using an integrated approach you yield far greater results than by simply using one tool or modality.
